Get Ready for Back to School!

As we gear up for another exciting school year in Royse City ISD, it’s time to mark your calendars for the 2026–2027 academic schedule.

Waterscape’s on-site elementary school, Paula Walker Elementary School, is entering its third year of operation and continues to serve grades Kindergarten through 5th, providing a nurturing and engaging environment for young learners.

The school is named in honor of Paula Walker, a beloved educator who devoted 35 years to Texas public education, including 32 years with Royse City ISD. As we begin another year, we’re excited to watch our students continue to grow and succeed. Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s make the 2026–2027 school year one to remember!

Back-to-School Checklist

Use this list to make sure you’re ready before the first bell rings:

School Supplies & Dress Code

  1. Check the school supply list for your child’s grade — a quick look now keeps the first week simple and stress-free.
  2. Review the dress code and pick up anything you need — a good time to sort through what still fits and what to replace.
  3. Label backpacks, lunchboxes, water bottles, and jackets — the little details that make busy mornings run a little smoother.

Health & Wellness

  1. Turn in medication forms or allergy info to the school nurse — This is worth handling early so everything is on file before day one.
  2. Schedule any physicals needed (especially for athletes) — a simple step to check off well ahead of the season.
  3. Confirm any special accommodations or care plans are current — a quick review helps make sure nothing slips through the cracks.

Transportation & Logistics

  1. Confirm your bus route or finalize pick-up plans — a little planning here goes a long way once the year is underway.
  2. Review school hours and drop-off/pick-up procedures — handy to have down before the first busy morning arrives.
  3. Sign up for after-school care if needed — something to line up early while spots are easy to sort out.

Technology & Communication

  1. Log into your parent portal for grades, meals, and messages — a good habit to set up before the updates start rolling in.
  2. Set up online payments for meals, activities, and more — one less thing to think about once the year gets going.
  3. Bookmark the school website and follow along on social media — an easy way to stay in the loop all year long.

Family Scheduling

  1. Add the key dates to your family calendar (see below!) — a simple step that keeps everyone on the same page.
  2. Plan meals, snacks, and routines for the first week — a little prep now makes those first mornings feel effortless.
  3. Schedule a family photo or special breakfast on day one — a fun way to mark the start of a brand-new year.
